Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Benebalm

I feel like the Benefit Tints are such an iconic product of Benefit’s cosmetic line. I fell in love with the Benefit Benetint at the young age of 10 and as Benefit continued to broaden the color range, I became a bigger and bigger fan. Alas, I could not wait to try out the newest part of the Tints family: the balm tints.

At first, I was not overly impressed with the Benefit lip tints. When I first had the chance to try these out, I thought they were average and boring, but then I realized they are only boring because they are such a staple makeup product to have. They are your typical tinted lip balm but with a few added features thrown in. First, how cute is the packaging? If there’s one thing Benefit nails every single time, it’s the packaging. The polka dot metal tube is adorable. Second, the lip tints are actually incredibly hydrating! They contain mango butter and sodium hyaluronate to soften and condition lips. Thirdly, the classic Benetint color is gorgeous. It’s a rosy red that starts out sheer, but is easily buildable to a more bold red.

One of my favorite things about these lip tints is that they are a great product to go with the Benefit tint stains. Although the Benefit classic tints are great for staining your lips, they offer no hydration. That’s why the lip tints are so fabulous to layer with the stains! Hydration and long-lasting color! What more could you want?

I’ve only had the chance to try out the classic Benebalm shade but the lip tints come in three other colors that match the classic stains- Posiebalm, Chachabalm, and Lollibalm. I want to get my hands on Lollibalm so badly! It’s the perfect orchid color, since Radiant Orchid is the Pantone Color of the Year after all!

Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Big Easy

Now that the warmer weather has finally hit Edmonton (it was literally snowing last week), it’s time to switch up my foundations. During the winter, I wear my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation but that one is way too oily to wear during the summer. It just sweats right off. So I’ve been switching to the new Benefit Big Easy ‘foundation’. It’s not really a foundation but it’s a bit more than a BB cream so I’m not sure what to call it.

This foundation is such a cool product and I was so excited to receive it at my Benefit training. There are so many awesome features about it. First, it is a liquid to powder formula so it can be applied easily but then it transforms into a more matte, smooth finish. You don’t have to worry about having your face look oily throughout the day. Also, this foundation contains SPF 35! SPF is one of the most important things to have on your face in the summer (and throughout the whole year for that matter). Thirdly, this product custom matches to your skin shade. I wear shade #02 light but I can also wear #01, #03, and even #04 if I was a tiny bit tanner. That means you could wear this same foundation all year long even if you tend to tan more in the summer. As for coverage, this foundation has less coverage than a typical foundation but more coverage than a BB Cream. However, I find that the Benefit Big Easy has the perfect amount of coverage for the summer. If you want more coverage, just layer this with your favorite concealer.

I was very impressed with the Benefit Big Easy foundation. It’s a super innovative product that doesn’t seem to compare with anything else! I think this is the perfect Summer product!

2013 Makeup Bag Favorites

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (buy here)- I recently picked up this powder after hearing everyone rave about it. Those people definitely weren’t exaggerating. This product. is such a great setting powder, it keeps my face matte all day without making me look cakey or overly powdery.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (buy here)- Long story short, this foundation is amazing. I did a full length review on this so go read that: http://when-im-older.com/post/70908575995

Dr. Hauschka (buy here)- I don’t wear a concealer on a day to day basis because I find it makes me break out more but on special occasions or if I have a really obvious pimple, I’ll use this one. I love that it has medical ingredients because it helps clear the blemishes while covering them.

Benefit Rockateur Boxed Powder (buy here)- I also did a full review on this so go check that out to hear my thoughts: http://when-im-older.com/post/61764339138

Maybelline Dream Sun Bronzer (buy here)- I’ve never really been into bronzer but I love how this one has so many different shades in it so I can customize just how much color I want on my face for that day.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Dollface (buy here)- This will forever be my favorite blush. I don’t have one bad thing to say about it. It stays on all day, has just the right amount of pigmentation, and it’s the prettiest color ever!

Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in RSVP (buy here)- Mine is starting to dry up but this is such a pretty base. It makes any eyeshadow more vibrant and helps it not crease throughout the day.

Mac Eyeshadow in All That Glitters (buy here)- This is the only mac eyeshadow I own. Shocking right? It’s such a gorgeous color and is so versatile for every eye look.

Smashbox Always Sharp Kohl Liner in Nude (buy here)- This eyeliner is amazing. I love to line my waterline with a nude color to open them up but it’s usually so hard to find the perfect pencil liner. However, this one sharpens itself when you twist on the cap and it’s waterproof so it stays on for so long!

Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara (buy here)- This has been my favorite mascara of 2013. It works so great with my lashes. Like it’s name states, the bristles help eliminate any clumps while adding volume and length. Read my review here: http://when-im-older.com/post/59593207236

Nuxe Lipbalm (buy here)- This is my favorite lip balm and the only one that I keep repurchasing. I use it up super quick but it’s totally worth it. It helps keep my lips moisturized and smooth. Read my review here: http://when-im-older.com/post/68172364700

Covergirl Smoochies Lip Balm in Luv U (buy here)- I love this tinted lip balm! It goes on so smooth and I find it is actually moisturizing! Plus, the color is gorgeous! It’s just a medium toned pink so it’s perfect for everyday wear.

Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Rockateur

I have been wanting to try Benefit’s Box O’ Powders for a quite a while now so I was super excited to try their new shade, the Rockateur boxed blush. When I first saw the promo for this blush, I wasn’t crazy about it. I typically like my blushes to be completely matte with no shimmer. This blush is marketed as a shimmery rose gold color so I thought I would not like it but boy, was I wrong! I love this shade! I love to layer it over my Marc Jacobs blush in Tantalizing. It gives such a nice, warm glow to my face. This would also work as a highlight on your cheekbones if you’re a bit darker than me.

As for packaging, Benefit did a fantastic job as always. This blush comes in a pretty lace printed box with studs and all. The actual powder is gorgeous as well with ‘Rock’ imprinted on it! Plus, the Benefit Box O’ Powders always have such a nice scent to them! This one smells fresh and floral. A handy mini brush is also included which makes this great for travelling!

Overall, I am obsessed with blush and this is becoming my staple beauty item for fall!

Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Ultra Plush Glosses

So to be honest, I think lip glosses are the most annoying things ever. Either they’re super sticky and messy to apply or not pigmented at all. However, I have always been a huge fan of Benefit lip glosses. The ‘plush’ glosses glide on so smoothly and they smell so yummy! There are six shades in total to match each of the Benefit boxed powders. First is Dandelion, my personal favorite. This one is a soft pearly pink, perfect for everyday! Next is Coralista, a sheer coral, which I love to wear in the summer over a bright orange lipstick and Hoola, a shimmering golden nude.

Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Stay Flawless Primer

Benefit is easily my favorite makeup brand. I have always loved their fun packaging and innovative products. Fun fact: I first started using Benefit makeup when I was only 10; I used the Bad Gal Mascara for dance and have loved it ever since! Anyways, the Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer is Benefit’s newest product. I have a love-hate relationship with primers. Sure, they’re great at making your makeup stay on all day but a great number of them also happen to make my skin breakout. However, this primer is very nice to my skin and doesn’t make it break out! I love the texture of this too. It’s very silky and smooth and helps my makeup last all day. Plus, the packaging is adorable too! I love the girly combination of polka dots and hot pink! There are both pros and cons to the stick application. It is very easy to apply as you can just quickly run it over you face and blend it out with your fingers. However, I feel as if bacteria can be spread more easily as you are applying this product directly to your face from the container. Other than that, this primer is great at helping your makeup stay fresh all day!
