Like Dog like Owner

1-IMG_9785 1-IMG_9905 1-IMG_9806 1-IMG_9876 1-IMG_9780 1-IMG_9922 1-IMG_9792 1-IMG_9805-001 1-IMG_9884 1-IMG_9830 1-IMG_9930 1-IMG_9852

Anyone who knows me knows that my life revolves around my dog, Oakley. He is the love of my life and I want to be just like him. When I saw this coat at Topshop, I fell in love with it. Some people may think it resembles a sheep, but I like to call it my Oakley coat. We look like twins, wouldn’t you say? My goal in life is to resemble Oakley and I think I am getting closer and closer to achieving that.

For pants today, I am wearing my new leather pants from Zara. I have been wanting leather pants for the longest time, but I didn’t want the traditional black liquid leggings. I have had my eye on these ones for the longest time but they were a tiny bit pricey, however when Zara’s semi-annual sale hit stores, I finally found it in my budget to buy these pants. They are a dark grey color with gunmetal zippers on the pockets and cool ruched detailing on the knees. I’m pretty badass.

The rest of my outfit was kept simple. I think sherpa with leather is pretty loud so I was forced to keep everything else on the down-low. My turtleneck is a striped one from Zara. These are sold out online but if you find them in store, you HAVE to pick one (or ten) up. They are the softest, comfiest, most versatile basic you will ever need. My boots are simple black ankle ones from Spring and I’m wearing my new gunmetal accessories from Marc Jacobs and Oak and Fort.

I think I need to find cream sherpa pants to match this coat and then I’ll dress up as Oakley for Halloween. Is that the best idea ever? Yes. Yes it is indeed.

P.s if you’re feeling the absence of Oakley in your life, I have made the decision to design Oakley a blog of his own. You can follow his stories at Does this make me a crazy dog lady?

Summer Came Back For A Day

1-IMG_4570 1-IMG_4588 1-IMG_4599 1-IMG_4607 1-IMG_46211-IMG_4561 1-IMG_46261-IMG_4560 1-IMG_4645 1-IMG_4663

As the last bits of summer are fading, I’m trying to prolong the sweaters and fall colors as much as possible. It was 27 degrees (Celcius) so I was still able to wear my regular summer attire. I have a feeling this may be one of the last days this year that I will able to dress this summery. Am I sad? That is to be decided.

I just got this new tank top from Langford Market. It’s so pretty and although I’m able to wear it now without any sort of jacket overtop, I’m super excited to bring it into the fall time too and layer cardigans and blazers over it. I paired it with the most summery pair of pants I own. For shoes, I wore my nude sandals with a chunky silver heel. I totally forgot I owned these shoes and I’m a bit embarrassed to say, I’ve only worn these a couple times this whole summer. Oops.

Accessories are once again very simple. I really haven’t been changing them at all. My Kate Spade purse and my Marc Jacobs watch are all I need! I also wore my new wooden cross necklace from 9th and Elm that has my favorite verse engraved on it. I also finally changed my nail polish on my toes. I had a bright pink gel polish on them all summer but I figured that I needed something a tad bit darker so I painted this bright cobalt blue on them (and my fingernails too!).

The leaves are falling and so are my dreams

1-IMG_4938 1-IMG_4945  1-IMG_4967  1-IMG_49871-IMG_4963 1-IMG_4995 1-IMG_50111-IMG_4975 1-IMG_5016 1-IMG_5026

Fall always hits so suddenly. One day the leaves are on the tree, I’m wearing shorts and skirts and then bam! The leaves fall and out comes the sweaters and the scarves.

I feel like this might just be the most autumn-y outfit I’ve ever worn and I couldn’t be happier. My favorite part about my outfit today is my scarf. I have been looking for this scarf for so long. I’ve seen it everywhere except it was always sold out at my Zara. However, as I was in the store today, I spotted it in the corner and cried. I’m so excited to have found it. I then went directly to H&M to buy this camel colored sweater to match the scarf. For a bit of warmth, I layered this navy vest. I’ve been really into vests lately. They are such great layering pieces and I love how they look with sweaters.

For my purse, I’m wearing this large black top-handle bag from Just Fab. I’m not sure if it’s just me but once the colder weather hits, I like to carry larger purses. I’m also loving the boots I’m wearing today. I saw these at Aeropostale and I thought they were the cutest things ever! However, it pains me that they have a heel. At university, we have this really slippery slanted floor leading down to the trains so I would die if I wore these shoes. But they’re so cute so I couldn’t pass them up. I’ll just have to find other places to wear them other than school.

So that’s my outfit. I’m basically a walking pumpkin… or a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I’m just the epitome of Fall. And I love it.

Plaid All Day, Everyday

1-IMG_5725  1-IMG_5734  1-IMG_57741-IMG_5769-0011-IMG_5798 1-IMG_58021-IMG_5814 1-IMG_58121-IMG_5729

For the majority of my life- actually no, I might be exaggerating. For just over a year now, I have been crazy about plaid. There’s something about plaid that just makes me so excited about autumn and the beginnings of winter. Last year I was on the search for the perfect flannel and this year, I was on the search for the perfect pair of plaid pants. I saw a particular pair of plaid pants onSheinside and the lovely Jalynn’s blog, but I was hesitant to order them online. I wasn’t sure how they would fit or how they would look. And if there’s anything I hate more than shopping online, it’s returns online. So, when I saw a similar pair at Urban Outfitters, I decided they could have a home inside my closet instead. Unfortunately, these ones are now sold out online, so I’ll link a similar pair down below.

These pants are the weirdest fitting pants I have ever tried on. They are super high waisted with a really baggy crotch and super tight fitting ankles. Surprisngly, I kinda like the fit. They look cool hey? Because they are so high waisted, I was able to pair them with my black crop top that I never seem to wear. For shoes, I wore my black booties that go with everything.

I added my leather jacket overtop. I think I look quite rebellious with the plaid and the leather. Am I right or am I right? For jewelry, I wore my two favorite necklaces. These were both passed down to me when my grandma passed away and I couldn’t love them more. They are very dear to my heart.

Also, can we take a moment to mourn the leaves on the ground? My trees are now bare. Winter is coming folks. I should start pulling out the parka and the Uggs.

Little Plaid Riding Hood

IMG_6314  IMG_6330 IMG_6350 IMG_6366 IMG_6368 IMG_6380 IMG_6414IMG_6326IMG_6421 IMG_6457

Midterm season has hit and the past couple of weeks have been absolutely dreadful. Although I’m not one of those students who is just going to wear hoodies and sweats when they’re studying, I definitely don’t put as much effort into my outfits. School comes first and comfort is key. And this outfit is one of the comfiest ones I’ve ever worn.

My main studying staple is a scarf. Scarves are the ultimate layering piece. Too hot? Take the scarf off. Too cold? Wear the scarf like a blanket .Just right? Wear the scarf around your neck. How much better can it get?

The scarf that I’m wearing today is a shawl style so I literally look like I’m wearing a blanket all day. And it feels like that too. I wore it over my favorite black turtleneck sweater. For pants, I’m wearing leggings because there’s nothing comfier than that. These leggings are from Onzie and I’ve been loving them. They have a mesh panel down the side and the material is similar to Lululemon leggings but even better! I find they’re more silky and don’t pill like my Lululemon ones tend to do.

For boots, I’m wearing my trusty Hunter rain boots. It didn’t end up raining today, but at least I was prepared. I’m wearing a new purse today! I’ve been looking for a bag with a bit more color because I tend to carry only neutral bags. This one is from Zara and is a light blue color with black detailing. Super cute.

Illegal Happenings in Climbing Gyms

Five minutes before these pictures were taken, I was almost kicked out of the building. This was my last day staying in Canmore, and the weather decided to be evil and rain all day. So, I was forced to relocate and take pictures inside. I found this cool rec centre in town and for those who find yourselves in Canmore, definitely go visit it, it’s calledElevation Place. Anyways, dogs aren’t usually allowed in buildings as I was told by the manager. But as soon as he stopped to pet Oakley, he said we could stay. I swear I could get away with robbing a bank as long as I had Oakley by my side. (Attn police: don’t worry I won’t actually rob a bank.)

I really love this tank top that I am wearing. It is from the cutest online store called Caralase. Everything at this store screams my name. I need everything. My shirt is a loose black tank with crochet detailing on the hem and the neckline. It is so pretty! It also comes in grey and ivory but I definitely love how the lace stands out on the black version. Because it was a bit of a chillier day in Canmore, I was forced to pair it with a sweater. This sweater is from Bethany Mota’s collection at Aeropostale and I am way too obsessed with it. It just feels like you’re wearing a blanket and who doesn’t want to wear a blanket all day?

The necklace that I am wearing holds a very special place in my heart. It is from an online marketplace called 9th and Elm. It is a wooden sideways cross on a silver chain where I engraved Jeremiah 29:11. Ever since I started my blog a couple years ago, I’ve had this passage stated on my homepage. I have always found comfort in this verse. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Whenever I feel like I don’t know what I’m doing in life, it reminds me that God is watching over me and He already has a plan for me.

My Favorite Town

1-IMG_3738 1-IMG_3739  1-IMG_3748 1-IMG_3749 1-IMG_3773 1-IMG_3788 1-IMG_3798 1-IMG_3809 1-IMG_3819 1-IMG_3827 1-IMG_3847

If there was one place that I had to live for the rest of my life, I would choose New York. However, if New York wasn’t an option, I would definitely choose Canmore. For all you non-Canadians, Canmore is the cutest town you will ever see. It’s buried in the mountains, about 20 minutes outside of Banff. It’s so peaceful here and recently, we took Oakley (my dog) to the town and he loved it just as much as me.

How can you focus on my outfit when there are mountains right behind me? The mountains are distracting me with their beauty. For those who have never seen mountains in person, you need to get your butt over here.

Anyways, my shirt is from a cute boutique called Simple Addiction. It’s a lace high low shirt with three quarter length sleeves and a low, open back. I’m usually not the biggest fan of open back shirts but I thought this one was very tasteful and pretty. I paired it with these orange shorts from Gentle Fawn and added strappy, snakeskin sandals. For jewelry, I wore my Fossil watch (duh!), a new bracelet from Simple Addiction with pretty blue stones, and my favorite grey and gold bangle from J.Crew.

So folks, I hope to see you all in Canmore when I’m there next. It really is the best place on earth.

Puppy’s First Roadtrip

1-IMG_3524 1-IMG_3574 1-IMG_3599 1-IMG_3605 1-IMG_3612 1-IMG_3615 1-IMG_3641 1-IMG_3651 1-IMG_3658 1-IMG_3677 1-IMG_3681 1-IMG_3704 1-IMG_3708 1-IMG_3720

Ever since we got Oakley two years ago, we have never been on a road trip. He’s a bit of a handful so we didn’t think he would do so well travelling in a car. But like any dog, Oakley absolutely loves people and walks and nature and car rides so we decided to take one final trip before school started up again.

First stop was Lake Louise. It was crawling with tourists who were all way too excited to see Oakley. Eighteen people (yes we counted) asked to take a picture with him. Zero people asked to take a picture with me. It’s alright. Oakley was so excited to see canoes in the water. He wanted to join them.

Now, on to the outfit. I am wearing one of my favorite new t-shirts. I recently picked it up on sale from Zara. I didn’t even try it on, I just saw it and bought it. I love graphic tees, you can never have too many! And ‘AGGGGHHHH’ just seems to sum up my life lately. I also really love the pants I’m wearing today. I have such a special place in my heart for printed jeans.

The name necklace I’m wearing today is from 9th and Elm. 9th and Elm is a marketplace featuring products from independent and handmade designers. I am obsessed with this necklace. Is it narcissistic to wear a necklace with your own name on it? Maybe. But it’s super cute so we’ll just ignore that.

Too Cool For School

Back-to-school time always has a tendency to bring out my preppier side and while this outfit isn’t exactly termed preppy, I definitely feel more put together than when I am wearing my summer uniform consisting of shorts and tees.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I have been loving this vest. I’m so glad i bought it because I have been wearing it nonstop lately. Today, I paired it with this seersucker blouse from The Fraternity Collection. The Fraternity Collection is a company dedicated to southern, preppy style and I love combining that style with my more Canadian style. I love how the edginess of my vest compliments the classiness of my shirt.

For bottoms, I’m wearing my boyfriend jeans from American Eagle. Currently, my legs are covered in mosquito bites so goodbye shorts and hello jeans. I’m not even complaining though, I love these jeans! As for shoes, I recently got these Steve Madden heels for a super good price at Town Shoes. They are surprisingly comfy and not so surprisingly adorable.

For accessories, I kept it pretty simple with one of my new favorite bracelets from the Willamy Collection. It is a beaded leather wrap bracelet and I think it goes great with this outfit! I love the layered look of it! I then just slipped on a cool pair of sunglasses because even though summer is slipping away, the sun hasn’t quite yet.

Colour Pop Eyeshadows Review

1-IMG_3139 1-IMG_3152 1-IMG_3154 1-IMG_3159 1-IMG_3163 1-IMG_3167 1-IMG_3170 1-IMG_3175 1-IMG_3210

I have heard such great things about these eyeshadows from Colour Pop but I was never quite convinced. How good could an eyeshadow really be after all? Aren’t they all the same?

NO. The answer is definitely no. These eyeshadows from Colour Pop are like no other shadows. Everything about them is perfect. Let’s talk about the formula first. These are creme-like powders that have an elastic-like texture. This means there isn’t any fallout and they apply beautifully. Plus, they last super long and don’t even crease throughout the day. Next, let’s talk about the pigmentation. Oh my goodness, are these ever pigmented. Take a look at those swatches, are those not the most beautiful colors you’ve ever seen? From left to right is ‘I Heart This’ which is a gorgeous light taupe. It is perfect for all over the lid. Next is ‘Desert’ which is a warm medium brown. ‘On The Rocks’ is a deep bronze with purple and gold glitter. I love this one for deepening up the crease. Next is ‘Amaze’, which is the perfect rose gold. I think golds with pink undertones are the most flattering colors! To the right of that one is ‘Meow’, which is such a cool color! It is a tie-dye shadow with pink, purple, and gunmetal colors that all combine to produce one gorgeous shade! Lastly, ‘Envy’ is a deep black with tons of purple glitter! It is the perfect color to line my eyes with!

Colour Pop has so many beautiful shades of eyeshadows and I think I need every single one. I’m not even exaggerating. And did I mention the price? Each eyeshadow is only $5. For quality like this, that’s practically, no definitely, a steal.
