I have heard such great things about these eyeshadows from Colour Pop but I was never quite convinced. How good could an eyeshadow really be after all? Aren’t they all the same?

NO. The answer is definitely no. These eyeshadows from Colour Pop are like no other shadows. Everything about them is perfect. Let’s talk about the formula first. These are creme-like powders that have an elastic-like texture. This means there isn’t any fallout and they apply beautifully. Plus, they last super long and don’t even crease throughout the day. Next, let’s talk about the pigmentation. Oh my goodness, are these ever pigmented. Take a look at those swatches, are those not the most beautiful colors you’ve ever seen? From left to right is ‘I Heart This’ which is a gorgeous light taupe. It is perfect for all over the lid. Next is ‘Desert’ which is a warm medium brown. ‘On The Rocks’ is a deep bronze with purple and gold glitter. I love this one for deepening up the crease. Next is ‘Amaze’, which is the perfect rose gold. I think golds with pink undertones are the most flattering colors! To the right of that one is ‘Meow’, which is such a cool color! It is a tie-dye shadow with pink, purple, and gunmetal colors that all combine to produce one gorgeous shade! Lastly, ‘Envy’ is a deep black with tons of purple glitter! It is the perfect color to line my eyes with!

Colour Pop has so many beautiful shades of eyeshadows and I think I need every single one. I’m not even exaggerating. And did I mention the price? Each eyeshadow is only $5. For quality like this, that’s practically, no definitely, a steal.

Tay’s Comparisons- Lip Crayons

There seems to be so many different kinds of lip crayons on the market so i thought I would break down the differences for you!

(from top to bottom, swatches- right to left)

First, is the Clarins Lip Balm Crayon in Creamy Pink. This one is a very glossy balm and more of a rosy coral. I love the color of this one but it doesn’t last very long on the lips. (buy here★★★★☆

Next, is the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish. This was the first lip crayon I had ever picked up and it’s one of my faves because not only is it moisturizing, but it’s also a stain as well. (buy here★★★★★

Next, is the Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick in Fuchsia Libre. This one is supposed to last 10 hours, which I don’t really agree with but it’s definitely the most glossy out of the whole bunch! (buy here★★★☆☆

Then comes the Moodmatcher Luxe Lip Crayon. I love this one! It changes color on your lips to the perfect pink and it has great staining properties as well! (buy here★★★★★

Next, is the Pur Minerals Lip Gloss Stick in Pucker. This one may be my least favorite. It’s not especially hydrating nor glossy. It’s more like just a sheer lipstick. (buy here★★☆☆☆

Lastly, comes the Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Coquette. I always thought these ones were a stain like the Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stains, but they’re not. They’re more of a shimmery, glossy tinted lip balm, but it’s still very pretty! (buy here★★★☆☆

So there we go! Which ones are your faves?

Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Big Easy

Now that the warmer weather has finally hit Edmonton (it was literally snowing last week), it’s time to switch up my foundations. During the winter, I wear my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation but that one is way too oily to wear during the summer. It just sweats right off. So I’ve been switching to the new Benefit Big Easy ‘foundation’. It’s not really a foundation but it’s a bit more than a BB cream so I’m not sure what to call it.

This foundation is such a cool product and I was so excited to receive it at my Benefit training. There are so many awesome features about it. First, it is a liquid to powder formula so it can be applied easily but then it transforms into a more matte, smooth finish. You don’t have to worry about having your face look oily throughout the day. Also, this foundation contains SPF 35! SPF is one of the most important things to have on your face in the summer (and throughout the whole year for that matter). Thirdly, this product custom matches to your skin shade. I wear shade #02 light but I can also wear #01, #03, and even #04 if I was a tiny bit tanner. That means you could wear this same foundation all year long even if you tend to tan more in the summer. As for coverage, this foundation has less coverage than a typical foundation but more coverage than a BB Cream. However, I find that the Benefit Big Easy has the perfect amount of coverage for the summer. If you want more coverage, just layer this with your favorite concealer.

I was very impressed with the Benefit Big Easy foundation. It’s a super innovative product that doesn’t seem to compare with anything else! I think this is the perfect Summer product!

Tay’s Thoughts- Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick

I really wish I had more chances to wear red lipstick in public because I am absolutely loving this lipstick from Estee Lauder. These are the new Pure Color Envy lipsticks that I recently talked about in my May Favorites and I couldn’t be more obsessed with them.

The color that I own is called Envious and it is the perfect red. Not too blue-toned and not too pink-toned. It is just a true red. The formula of these lipsticks is what makes them so unique. They contain Hyaluronic Acid which makes these lipsticks incredibly moisturizing. I always thought that Hyaluronic Acid would be drying because it is an acid but it’s actually the opposite. The acid adds hydration to the lips and because of this, this lipstick is the creamiest, smoothest lipstick I have ever worn. Apart from this gorgeous red, Estee Lauder has many other colors to choose from, including my personal favorite, Infamous, a bright pink!

The packaging of these lipsticks is also gorgeous. It is a sleek and glossy navy tube with gold ends and the case is magnetic so it securely closes and won’t come loose in your purse! Perf!

So there we have it, my new favorite lipstick. There’s not one downside to this lipstick which is quite impressive I must say.

Tay’s Thoughts- EOS Lip Balms

I have been meaning to write a post on EOS lip balms for a while now. So here I am, finally doing it. I should give you a bit history first though. 3 and a half years ago, EOS lip balms didn’t even exist in Canada. They were extremely popular in the US but alas none could be found in Canada… Until we discovered a little clothing store called RW&Co sold them. We were desperate find them, but they sold out almost immediately every time new stock came in. I remember me and my friends phoning every day, asking if they had gotten any in. Finally, they did, and my first EOS lip balm was born. It was the Honeydew Honeysuckle one. Soon after, Walmart and Shopper’s drug mart started carrying them so my collection grew and grew.

There was just one problem. I hate EOS lip balms. I know what you’re thinking… “Taylor, you have 8 lip balms that you supposedly hate?!” Yes, yes I do. But here’s the thing. The only thing I hate about them is the actual balm. I find then extremely unmoisturizing and a hard consistency, I like lip balms that just melt onto my lips. These do absolutely nothing for my dry, cracked lips. Now back to the important question, why do I have eight of them? I find the packaging and appearance completely adorable. Yes, I am judging the book by its cover. Plus, the scents are so yummy. Summer fruit, vanilla bean, sweet mint… How could I pass those up? And I do occasionally use these. As you can see by the photos, they don’t just sit in my room untouched. However, I only reach for these when I just need a quick swipe of something under my lipstick, not looking for extreme comfort and hydration.

That being said, if you don’t have particularly dry lips, these would probably work find for you. But, let’s be honest, who doesn’t choose their lip balms based on adorability factor? And since these are the cutest lip balms around, go pick up a few.

Tay’s Thoughts- Wet N’ Wild Palette

I haven’t bought eyeshadow in a long time but when I saw this Wet n Wild Palette, I couldn’t resist. And I’m so glad I decided to pick it up! I feel like Wet n Wild makeup is often overlooked because people view it as not the best quality. However, I totally disagree! I have never tried any of their other makeup, but their eyeshadows are so pigmented and smooth! They go on wonderfully and are easily blended.

This palette is in the shade, Comfort Zone. It comes with eight shadows, all shimmery colors. I wish there were some mattes but that’s honestly the only downside. There is a wonderful mix of shades. I love how there are both neutrals and a few wearable colors. My favorites are the silver taupe color (top right) and the gorgeous brown-blue duo-chrome (bottom right) that reminds me of the Blue Brown Pigment from Mac.

Oh, and did I mention, this palette is only $3.99?! Yup, that’s right. This is basically the best palette ever. There is so many different eye looks you can create from this palette, anywhere from a basic neutral eye to a dark smoky look. This palette has everything you need in it for a complete eye look! It’s perf!

Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Rockateur

I have been wanting to try Benefit’s Box O’ Powders for a quite a while now so I was super excited to try their new shade, the Rockateur boxed blush. When I first saw the promo for this blush, I wasn’t crazy about it. I typically like my blushes to be completely matte with no shimmer. This blush is marketed as a shimmery rose gold color so I thought I would not like it but boy, was I wrong! I love this shade! I love to layer it over my Marc Jacobs blush in Tantalizing. It gives such a nice, warm glow to my face. This would also work as a highlight on your cheekbones if you’re a bit darker than me.

As for packaging, Benefit did a fantastic job as always. This blush comes in a pretty lace printed box with studs and all. The actual powder is gorgeous as well with ‘Rock’ imprinted on it! Plus, the Benefit Box O’ Powders always have such a nice scent to them! This one smells fresh and floral. A handy mini brush is also included which makes this great for travelling!

Overall, I am obsessed with blush and this is becoming my staple beauty item for fall!

Tay’s Thoughts- Benefit Ultra Plush Glosses

So to be honest, I think lip glosses are the most annoying things ever. Either they’re super sticky and messy to apply or not pigmented at all. However, I have always been a huge fan of Benefit lip glosses. The ‘plush’ glosses glide on so smoothly and they smell so yummy! There are six shades in total to match each of the Benefit boxed powders. First is Dandelion, my personal favorite. This one is a soft pearly pink, perfect for everyday! Next is Coralista, a sheer coral, which I love to wear in the summer over a bright orange lipstick and Hoola, a shimmering golden nude.

Tay’s Thoughts- Marc Jacobs Blush

Marc Jacobs is easily my favorite designer. But because I am a poor 18 year old trying to save up for university, I don’t own many of his collections or pieces. However, as soon as I heard word of his new beauty line, I knew I had to splurge on one thing. So, I hurried over to Sephora, and picked out a blush. This is very irregular for me. Usually, I have to listen to tons of reviews and really research what I want. But the whole Marc Jacobs Beauty line is so beautiful, I was just spontaneous in choosing what I wanted. And let me tell you, everything about this line is perfect. The packaging is flawless and so far, all the products are absolutely amazing!

I picked out this blush for my one splurge item. It is called the Shameless Bold Blush in the color Tantalizing. And I know what you all are thinking, this doesn’t seem like the type of color I would go for. But as the makeup artist at Sephora said, I probably have way to many pinks and peaches. I am so happy I went with the color! It is so pigmented and easily build-able so I can pick between having rosy cheeks or going for a very defined, glam look. It is the perfect color for autumn and winter. I have been wearing it everyday and I am falling more and more in love with it!

Let’s talk about the packaging now. It is absolutely stunning. It comes in a shiny black compact with an included mirror. A little travel brush also accompanies it which will be perfect for travel, it is actually a decent brush! Then, the two items are enclosed in a black pouch. It makes the little blush seem so luxurious, I love it!

So all in all, I am absolutely obsessed with this blush and I am so glad that Marc Jacobs didn’t disappoint. I am already picking out my next item from the line… uh oh…

Mally Cosmetics

I have to admit, when I first received this package from Mally Beauty, I thought the primer and lip glosses were going to be pretty average. Typically, I am not a huge fan of either but I was pleasantly surprised with these products! They turned out to be absolutely amazing!

This Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is unlike anything I have ever tried. It has a smooth, silky touche that is dabbed on using a sponge. However, instead of putting this under your makeup, this is applied to your finished makeup. This product is amazing at minimizing fine lines and the look of pores. Plus, it helps your makeup stay on all day and can be reapplied to keep your face look matte. I also love the packaging of the Poreless Face Defender. One side contains the actual product, while the other side contains the sponge and a handy mirror. This is such a great item to have in your purse for touchups throughout the day!

The next item I received from Mally Beauty is a set of 3 Evercolor Lip Lacquers. In the past I hated lip glosses because of two reasons, they were incredibly sticky and went on sheer. But I am very pleased to say, these lacquers were the total opposite of any glosses I have ever tried before. Everything about this product is absolutely perfect. They are not sticky at all and their pigmentation is incredible. They are almost like wearing a lipstick except with added shine and gloss. Plus, these lacquers contain special oils to help condition and hydrate your lips. What more could you want in a lip product! The colors are so beautiful as well and are perfect for the summer months. There is a mid tone pink perfect for everyday wear, a bright coral that screams summer, and a beautiful red that can be applied sheer for a casual look or built up for a more fancy occasion.

I was extremely impressed with both of these products from Mally Beauty. I don’t think I’ll ever use a different primer or lip gloss ever again! These are definitely my new go-to products so go check out Mally Beauty!
