Tay’s Thought- Hard Candy Palette

I haven’t been buying a lot of eye shadows lately because I tend to stick to the boring matte champagne colors but when I was at Walmart at 10:30 at night (don’t ask), I saw this gorgeous Hard Candy palette. It was basically love at first sight. Who needs boys when you have pretty makeup right?

There were five different varieties of this palette: nudes, pinks, greens, purples and blues. Usually I would go for the nudes palette, but then I saw this one, the pinks palette called ‘Pinking of You’! The name is kind of adorable. I’m usually not a fan of pink eyeshadow, hello pink eye! But these shades seemed so wearable and this palette only cost around six dollars so I decided to give it a try!

I’m so glad I did because I am obsessed with this palette. I bought it a week ago and I’ve worn it every single day which is quite an accomplishment for me! The formulation is so pigmented and they almost have a creamy texture, not a flaky powdery feel at all! The ten-shade selection in this palette is very well thought out. They have some true pink colors towards the right end of the palette but they also included some taupes and peaches towards the other end as well as a white and a cranberry color. With the wide selection of colors, their are so many different eye looks you could create! Anythings from a very natural eye to a more smoked pink look! I’ve been having so much fun playing around with this palette. The only downside to this palette would be that their are only shimmery shades. There is an absence of matte shades but if you don’t mind shimmer, this is definitely the palette for you!

Spring is Coming

I know this scenery doesn’t look exactly Spring-y, but after the longest Winter ever, this is as Spring as it’s going to get! The high was +7 degrees (Celsius obvs.) so I couldn’t wait to bring out my fun spring clothes! No more dark colors for me!

These pants are the epitome of Spring. They are such a fun floral print and they make me so happy! I paired them with one of my favorite tops from Vero Moda with a lace neckline and a flowy chiffon fabric. It was still a bit chilly so I added a long blue cardigan and wore some grey flats. I am so excited to start wearing flats again! I’ve been a bit bored with booties.

I kept my accessories very Spring-like with this bangle from Accessory  Mercado. It brings out the colors in the pants with the fun green and turquoise design. For earrings, I wore these daisy studs from Majestical Jewelry. What is Spring without florals?

Tay’s Thoughts- Covergirl Smoochies

Tinted lip balms have become so popular lately but I feel like many just miss the mark. However, these Covergirl Smoochies lip balms are amazing, yay for fabulous lip products!

I have two of the twelve colors available but I totally want to go pick up some more. First, is Tweet Me, a cherry red color. Next, is Luv U, a mauve mid-tone pink. Both colors are a very moisturizing formula with sheer but still pigmented color payoff. These remind me a lot of the Maybelline Baby Lips. The Tweet Me Smoochies is almost an exact dupe for the Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me, except it has a less obnoxious smell (I hate the smell of artificial cherries). The Covergirl Smoochies in Luv U is definitely my favorite of the two. It is such a wearable color and it looks great with almost every makeup look! Plus, I find the formula decently moisturizing which is very uncommon for my dry lips. As for scent/flavour, the Smoochies remind me a lot of BonneBell lip smackers. It’s a very fruity scent, not my least favorite but not a fantastic smell either. These are kind of like the grown up version of Lipsmackers. We all have to grow up sometime. Other than that, I love the Covergirl Smoochies and you probably will too okay? Okay.

Tay’s Thoughts- Lancome Baume in Love

So, for my birthday, my lovely friends, Emily and Heather (Thanks guys <3) got me the Lancome Baume in Love in the shade, Urban Ballet. I have been lusting over it for the longest time and it is the most amazing lip product ever.

First, let’s talk about the packaging. The whole Spring collection has the cutest packing, it’s all pink and girly and perfect!

Secondly, the texture of this is amazing. I guess this could be considered a tinted lip balm but it is really so much more than that. It is a super sheer hot pink but it almost changes to a brighter pink on your lips throughout the day. Two of my best friends bought this product as well and it looks absolutely amazing on their lips as well, it’s so universal! It is also super moisturizing and I love how glossy it applies.

There is not one thing I would want to change about this product. It is the prettiest lip balm/lip color that I own! I believe this is a limited edition product so pick it up while you still can!

Goodbye Winter Jacket

You have no idea how happy I was to wear only a sweater outside today. Even though there is still that bright white snow on the ground, the weather has been considerably warmer lately. But isn’t that what you would expect when it is now officially Spring?

I went for a very preppy look today. I feel like I should be going to a country club or playing some golf. Those are preppy activities right?

For my outfit today, I am wearing one of my favorite sweaters that is surprisingly from Old Navy. It has a bright pink fox on it and I think it is absolutely adorable. I layered a cream blouse underneath it to dress it up and make it look extra classy. I have been looking for the perfect blouse for forever and I finally found one from Elizabeth and Clarke. Elizabeth and Clarke is such a cool concept. Each season, they send you a box with a couple of gorgeous shirts like this one for a fee ($20 to $30/shirt). I love this blouse. It is made of a beautiful Crepe de Chine fabric and you can tell that it is great quality!

As for the rest of my outfit, I wore a pair of blue jeggings, and of course my black Hunters. You can’t not wear Hunters when the snow is melting! My crystal necklace is from Accessory Mercado and I think it adds the perfect sparkle to this outfit. As you can tell, the sun was brightly shining today, so I added a pair of sunglasses that I have been waiting to wear all winter.

Winter is Ending

It’s official guys, winter is ending. I have never been so happy to see the pavement of the sidewalk or the absence of big winter parka. And today, Oakley makes a guest appearance in this outfit. How cute is he?! He was so excited to be a model for a day.

For today’s outfit I started with this sweater from Altar’d. I really love the boho feel of this sweater. It’s a cream open knit so it won’t be too hot transitioning into spring with a taupe lace underlay which gives it the girly vibe that I love. I paired it with these awesome leggings from All About Eve that have leather patches on the knees. I love little details like these! For shoes, I wore my combat boots from Go Jane that seem to go with everything. It’s not warm enough to go without a coat yet, so I added this military-inspired jacket that is also from All About Eve. For accessories, I wore this velvet chain necklace from Deadly Ponies that picked up the color in the leggings, tassel earrings and some pretty gold rings. I went for dark nails from Urban Outfitters.

Tay’s Thoughts- Lush Cupcake Face Mask

I’ll probably regret putting a picture of me wearing a face mask that might resemble something not so pretty. But yolo right? Just kidding, I’m weird. I feel like people often don’t pay much attention to face masks. Are they just seen as a symbol for a typical tween sleepover? But they’re so much more than that. (insert dramatic music)

This is one of my favorite face masks from Lush. It’s one of their fresh face masks, meaning it’s only good for two weeks and it has to be refrigerated. That’s a bit of a pain.

But that’s really the only downside of this mask. It contains cocoa powder and sandalwood so it will calm the skin and it’s specially made for acne-prone skin so it will fight those breakouts! Hurrah! With most face masks, I find that they don’t really make a difference but when I use this one, my face just feels so much cleaner and smooth. It helps rid my face of the excess oils that will clog my poor pores. (HA poor pores). Even though it doesn’t clear up my face (no face mask has the power to do that unfortunately), I really find that my skin is better off after I use this product. Plus, it smells like a cupcake and who doesn’t want to smear their face with a cupcake? I dunno man. I just don’t know.

I try to apply this face mask every second or third day. I’m a bit forgetful though. Plus, who has the time for that? But, to get the best value out of this product, you do want to apply it as much as you can before the two weeks are up and it expires. Just don’t go all crazy and apply it everyday because that will dry up your skin like a raisin and that ain’t cute. Nuh uh.

To sum it up, this face mask is cool and so are you.

Pro-tip: Apply this face mask and wear it to school. It will help you make friends. True story. (not really).

Tay’s Thoughts- Fran Wilson Moodmatcher Twist Sticks

Chemistry is pretty cool, but it’s even cooler when you combine it with makeup. The are the Moodmatcher Luxe Twist Sticks from Fran Wilson. The twist sticks’ innovative formula react with your lips to create a one-of-a kind color! How cool is that? When I first received these and glanced at the colors, I thought they were just novelty lipsticks and I really didn’t expect much out of them.

However, that all changed when I grabbed the blue twist stick. As soon as the color touched my lips, it turned into a gorgeous pink, no blue in sight! (thank god!) All of the colors are really gorgeous! The red twist stick is a sheer rose color. The pink is (obviously) a pretty bright mid toned pink. The orange is such a beautiful coral color, perfect for summer! The next three colors are more cool toned. The yellow is the palest shade, a light pink. The green is a darker pink, more of a neon and the blue is a gorgeous mauve pink (it’s more of an orchid color).

Not only are all of the colors amazing, I am most in love with the formula. These twist sticks are enriched with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E so they are super moisturizing on your lips! I’m sure you’re all aware of how dry my lips are, but these feel so nice on! They start off with having a glossy finish but fade to a matte finish throughout the day! They claim that they last 12 hours. I’m not sure if I’ve ever worn mine for a full 12 hours but they definitely last longer than an average lipstick which is fab!

Happy Valentine’s Day

First, let me start off by saying HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY! I hope you all have awesome plans for today no matter the state of relationship that you are in! I’m single and ready to mingle so I’m just going out for dinner and a movie with my besties.

But back to my outfit. I started off with this great knit sweater from Banggood. It’s a black and white speckled knit with a white chiffon underlay. I love the cute layering look this gives! This sweater is going to be a great basic in my closet. It’s a light knit so it’s great for chillier days but also transitioning cool days between seasons. It also has three quarter length sleeves which is my favorite sleeve length so that’s pretty cool I guess! I then added a leather jacket over my sweater. I have a hard time making my leather jacket look less punky but I think this look is very chic and girly, wouldn’t you agree?

Let’s talk about my jeans now. My oh my I am in love. I picked up these emerald jeggings on sale on Boxing Days for only 10 bucks. Yup, they were originally $55, I am a bargain shopper. They are by my favorite brand, Vero Moda and they fit me like a glove. I love the pop of color they give to the outfit. For shoes, I added a pair of booties from Target (who knew Target had such cute stuff?!)

And let’s not forget my jewelry! I am absolutely obsessed with my necklace from Presh by Nicole Apostoli. Its a dark navy quartz stone on a leather backing hanging from a gorgeous oxidized chain with gold details. My earrings are also from Presh and they are a simple, lightweight trio of rings. I love how dainty they are! Plus, they’re half off right now so go get them while you can! As for rings, I’ve been wearing these rings from Noul (formerly Loft 82) almost everyday!

Tay’s Thoughts- Dior Rouge Serum

I’ve been a big fan of Dior’s lip products for a while now. I have always loved their Dior Addict Lip Glow, Lipstick, and Glosses but I never had a change to try out the Dior Serum de Rouge. For all you non-Frenchies, we’ll just call it Dior Rouge Serum. This lipstick is basically the combination of the Dior Addict Lip Stick and a serum and a lip balm. It’s genius.

Mine is in the color 675 and it’s the perfect shade. I usually go for bright pinks. This one is a bit more wearable than my trusted hot pinks but it’s still bright enough to not blend in with my pale skin and wash me out. This product goes on so nicely. The formula supposedly has 10 times more concentrated skincare ingredients than classical lipsticks, providing moisture, volume and smoothing benefits for your lips. It’s is practically skincare and makeup all in one! I love it. It’s so moisturizing on my lips, while still being pigmented. It’s such a unique product!
